Animal Testing is Animal Cruelty
The way I look at animal testing is a form hateful cruelty. None of these people care about if it hurts or kills the animals. The cruelty has been going on long enough and I think it is time to stop. What people do not know is that animal’s react a different way to drugs as humans do, so scientist cannot apply the results to humans. Many animals go through screaming, unbearable, horrific; you cannot even imagine pain when they go through test for products that you use every day such as: Cosmetics, Household Products, Medical Products, even Iams dog products. Some well-known animals that are use for testing are: cats, dogs, mice, rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, sheep, llamas, cattle, owls, deer,…show more content…
One of the favored uses of the human face in today’s world is Botox, smoothes out frown lines and gets rid of wrinkles. Before Botox is sent to the world it goes through some animal tests, and it is the same test that has been used for years. Scientists inject Botox into mice until they find the right amount of dose, which kills half of the mice (Gaul, Gilbert M. #). The scientists were giving the lethal dose to these animals, which is illegal. A new legislation was passed, Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Validation of Alternative Methods, or ICCVAM. ICCVAM is a federal panel that is a little slow but, it finds new alternatives besides horrible animal tests. Other people are talking about how Europe has outlawed animal testing and have found lots of alternatives for testing methods. The executive director of the U.S. panel, William S. Stokes, said in a statement that his group "has successfully reviewed over 185 test methods" and that the four alternatives it has endorsed "have significantly reduced the number of animals required for safety assessments, and provided for improved welfare of animals used in safety evaluations." One alternative has saved "at least 36,000 animals annually," Stokes said (Gaul, Gilbert M. #). These test methods are saving a lot of animals lives, some animals would like to
Unformatted text preview: ANIMAL ABUSE 1 2[Type text] [Type text] [Type text] Abstract Animal abuse is a serious but concealed problem throughout the United States. Spreading awareness about Animal Cruelty, once you know all the facts yourself, will help to cut down on the extremity and frequency of animal abuse cases. Also, donating your time and money towards helping animals that have experienced or are exposed to violence will be of an advantage to animals. Finally, by getting in contact with your local government, we can solve animal abuse, together. ANIMAL ABUSE Think back to the movies you watched with your family and friends as an infant. Do you recall becoming particularly emotional when animals became in harms way? How about listening to stories on your local news channel, when comparing a case of human abuse or animal abuse, which one causes you to feel more sympathetic? For many individuals around the world, there is an avowed and unabashed love for animals. Unfortunately, there are several human beings out there that feel they have the right to mistreat other living things. There are also some circumstances where people are unaware that they are committing a crime, which is why we must inform ourselves, as well as others, on how to properly treat living organisms (Ascione and Arkow, 1999, 9). Although the individuals who participate in animal cruelty may think they are only harming the animal itself, it also affects the animal lovers out there and even children, who learn from what they see. Try to imagine being a child walking down a street, when suddenly five baby pit bulls are falling from a second-story balcony, what would you think? I wish I could ask anybody who was walking on that November, 2010 day when Randy Jones decided a suitable punishment towards a lady he was currently arguing with was to kill two out of the five puppies (Malisow, 2010, para. 2). Animal abuse is a harsh drawback for countless animals around the world, but by educating yourself on the rights of animals, donating your time and even money towards your beloved creatures, and by interacting with the local government, we can eliminate animal cruelty in the United States. Alike human beings, animals have a few different types of abuse. Indeed, the physical abuse is brought to our attention immediately, examples include: the broken bones, the 3 4[Type text] [Type text] [Type text] mouths duct-taped shut due to consistent barking, and the scars. Aside from physical abuse, there are also the emotional and psychological abuses that people easily overlook. Similarly to humans, the psychological affects of a tragedy are more severe and produce...
